One of the objectives of Chartered Accountants South East when it was established, originally as the South Eastern Society of Chartered Accountants, was to engage with and support Chartered Accountants in the South East area.

The Society has been successfully and actively engaging with Chartered Accountants for many years through its training subsidiary, SESCA Ltd.

SESCA Ltd provides CPD courses and conferences to keep Chartered Accountants up to date with their CPD requirements to ensure they can provide the very best service to their clients.

In addition to the services provided to clients and with charities desperate for help and resources, you may well be considering a role in addition to your ‘day job’ and might be thinking about volunteering in some capacity.

According to the Charity Commission there are 100,000 vacancies for charity trustees in the UK. Trustees are the volunteers who lead charities and decide how they are run.

With an incredible skillset to offer, Chartered Accountants can offer invaluable help, time and guidance to the charitable sector. Volunteering can be incredibly rewarding, with 96% of trustees reporting they had learned a new skill and 84% saying being a trustee made them happier according to the Charity Commission.

With all that in mind, you may like to consider becoming a charity trustee but just don’t quite know where to start.

That’s where Chartered Accountants South East can help, in partnership with our training company SESCA Ltd.  We are delighted to be sponsoring a SESCA Bites course that answers all the questions you might have about possibly becoming a charity trustee.

Charities expert Claris D’cruz is presenting a one-hour live online course on Monday 18th November , conveniently timed at lunchtime (12:00-13:00) to easily fit in to the busy accountants’ day.

The session ‘Why be a Charity Trustee and how to find a suitable role’ is aimed at accountants, auditors and finance professionals who are looking for their first charity trustee role, or those looking for their next.

Presented using Zoom, the course will cover what charity trusteeship involves, what will be expected of you and what you might expect to get out of a trusteeship. It will also include information about where to look for trusteeship opportunities and what you can do to secure a trusteeship that suits you.

Claris has over 25 years’ experience of providing training for trustees and senior charity executives, as well as CPD training for professionals.

Please visit our website for more information about the course, the speaker, and how to book any place.
